Indias real GDP growth rate

Indias real GDP growth rate has been projected at 7.4 percent for FY 2025 26, up from 6.5 percent in FY 2024 25, according to the advanced estimates released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on 7 January 2026.

Indias pharmaceutical exports reached $30.47 billion in FY 2024 25, registering a year-on-year growth of 9.4 percent, and are on track to surpass last years performance in the current financial year, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL) informed Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal on 5 January 2026.

Tobacco products and pan masala products are set to face a new tax structure from February 1. This comes as the Centre rolls out additional excise duty and a health cess, above the current GST rates.

The gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for December 2025 were at Rs.1.75 lakh crore. The collection rose 6.1 against Rs.1.64 lakh crore in December 2024. Local GST revenue rose 1.2 year-on-year to Rs.1.22 lakh crore.
